He was exasperated and delighted by the gift before he found out the second half. I don't think it will damage things between us, or I hope not, but I've been wrong before.

I think he understands where your heart and your head were at when you did it. I don't think it will damage anything between you two; if it does it's just a fracture that can end up being mended into something stronger.
