Oh. Well? Yeah, he can see how that could happen...but he hadn't heard of people disappearing so soon after graduation on purpose. Either they dipped, or they handled their shit and came back, right?
His shoulders droop a little, frowning at their hands before looking up again, "I guess I didn't think about that part...I mean, yes it's possible, but I'm pretty sure if the Admiral shut the door behind me, I'm not going to forget you, I graduated! That's...that's something, right? It's important." It means he'd try to come back, and some people do, that asshole Lestat was proof of that, and probably some other people on board he didn't even know about.
He's free. Free of him especially. The urge to do something stupid is high enough it actually tempts him even though he is very much aware it is a stupid thing. Hurting people not to hurt them more is not a logic that actually works. It's a tempting selfishness, nothing more.
He breathes out and meets Hanna's eyes.
"I'm worrying over nothing. Or perhaps I'll miss you. Aren't you supposed to be pleased I'm more concerned about you coming back than what you'll get me while you're gone?"
"You better miss me," he huffs, even though he doesn't feel like it's the right mood to tease, but still.
"But I guess I'd rather you be thinking about something less depressing while I'm out. I have no intention of just disappearing on you. So...I'm not going to spend any energy thinking about it unless it happens."
Re: Post-graduation
"Is it so unbelievable that I hate the fact you're going? I've read too many accounts of people suddenly unable to get back."

"Probably for the best. I'm just the sort to overplan, you know."
