[Which he does on the oven, while he takes out his file and sets it on the file, opening it up to start reading.]

[ There's a knock soon enough, and he'll slip in before making his way to the kitchen and sitting across from him at the kitchen table. ]

Father Oscar.

Father Vincent. Good morning.

[He offers a respectful nod, glancing at him over his reading glasses. Father was it. Wasn't he uncomfortable calling him as such or was he confusing him with Jacob...?]

I just started, and the kettle should be boiling soon.

[ Not him; he's never had a problem with it. And he'd find it very curious that Jacob did, given that Jacob often called him Father. Which is extra funny, given how young he is. ]

I'll make the tea once it does. Feel free to keep going.

Yes please. Help yourself to whatever you like. There may be some scones, and jam.

Abaurycy said that's how Russians have their tea. Little jam.

We haven't met as of yet, though I've seen his postings. Including the most recent. I feel a touch awkward, considering.

[ Getting his warden just as someone lost theirs. ]

I don't eat much, as you might imagine.

[ Either from looking at him or being familiar with his background at this point. ]

I wasn't aware that he posted so much. But, I think he does like to play the part of the mad poet.

[He'll have to tease Abaurycy about it later. ]

But I don't think he'll get angry at what's happened to you, but it's up to you.

Though it seems...food withholding and using people against you by making everyone out to be a family is a common tactic in cruelty.

I saw that and worse at times at the orphanage I grew up in.

Ah, so you haven't gotten into the Water Prison. [ He shoos him back to the file. ] Do keep going.

Will do. And once we're settled, remind me to show you some of the oven's features, as well as the fridge.

[He goes back to reading, a frown forming behind his reading glasses.]

[ He nods and he'll stand up when the kettle whistles, putting together a pot of tea for the both of them before pouring. He'll keep time on the microwave, leaning against the counter, and once the tea is ready, he'll pour for them both and bring it over. He'll go to the 'fridge, pull out a lemon, a small amount of milk, and the sugar from the cabinet and brings it over to fix up their tea. Nothing fancy, but he seemingly has no problem navigating or using everything without much fuss. ]

[Oscar murmurs his thanks without looking up. It's not...a comfortable thing Vincent is doing, but he does it well.

He was likely was trained under pressure thanks to the Elders.]

So the person I met you as the cult priest. He was the version of you that never went back, despite wanting more, it seems.

He was a hollow shell. Desperately unhappy, but content to drown that unhappiness in alcohol and drugs. I have no doubt he'll be dead in five years from an overdose of some kind.

[ He sits down across from Oscar. ]

[He looks down at the tea pot, and makes to pour himself a cup, putting a lemon slice on top. He didn't always, but it felt right.]

Are you still desperately unhappy, considering how things turned out? Claudia betraying you, the talisman not working like you thought?

[ The talisman is a sore point and his lips twitch at being reminded but he shakes his head. ]

My god was unsuitable for me. This place has provided a better option for me, one I actually wish to worship instead of the... almost-addiction-like quality to the devotion I had for the god of the Order.

[ He looks distant as he continues. ]

Either Claudia succeeded or she didn't. I won't be going back now, so the fate of that world hardly matters for me. Heather gets to deal with that now.

Mmmm.

[What an interesting reaction. He watches him, leaning back in his seat. The world ended or it didn't. It's rather callous, and dismissive. And...strikes a bit of a pattern with Vincent that he saw in the file.

There's a lot of fear there, thanks to the Prison, the Wish House.]

[He can guess. But he wants to hear Vincent say it.]

Because she seemed perfectly fine with leaving my corpse on the ground to bleed out. If she'd wanted my help, I suppose she might have tried to do something but she didn't.

[Oscar shakes his head.]

You used that girl as your cat's paw. You know very well that when someone feels used, or are in an extremely dangerous situation...which you helped put her in...they are less likely to help.

Does Heather owe you Vincent? Or does the world?

'Girl'? 'Used'?

[ He can't help a dark chuckle. ]

I was hardly the one using people in that situation. [ A short huff. ] Or doesn't it say? Who 'Heather' actually is?

It says that Alessa and Heather are the same, and she was once a little girl, four years old.

Did she use you Vincent? Please. Explain.

She used all of us!

[ He leans back, and he gestures, but he's careful not to knock anything over.]

All of us were fodder for ire, or more appropriately, collateral damage in the struggle between her and her mother! And then she had the gall to run off, make a new life for herself, leaving the town in the state she had left it in.

[ Leaving Claudia behind. ]

[Oscar takes a moment to close his eyes and sigh, before taking a sip of tea. What in the world did his last warden do? Was this better or worse? Yeesh.]

So, let me make sure I have the facts straight.

You're going to leave the world to suffer, if not end. Because Alessa, now Heather, did not save you as you were dying, didn't save the town in particular.

Because your plan didn't work. Because your Goddess did not suit what you needed. Because you helped create the situation and since the results don't suit...you're going to do nothing.

Do I have that right? Please, Father Vincent. I would love to be corrected.

[ And that's when his eyes very much open wide. ]
